Instructions:
- Prepare the Whitening Solution:
- Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide Mix: In a large bowl, mix 1 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide acts as a mild bleaching agent, while baking soda helps to lift stains and neutralize odors.
- Add White Vinegar: Pour in 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Vinegar helps to break down mineral deposits from hard water and soften fabric.
- Optional Lemon Juice: Add 1/4 cup of lemon juice if desired. Lemon juice has natural bleaching properties and gives a fresh scent.
- Laundry Detergent: Mix in 1/4 cup of your regular laundry detergent to help with cleaning.
- Soak the Clothes:
- Fill a large basin or bathtub with warm water. The warm water helps to open up the fibers of the fabric, allowing the solution to penetrate deeply.
- Add the prepared whitening solution to the water and mix well.
- Submerge the yellowed clothes in the mixture, ensuring they are fully covered. Let them soak for at least 4 hours. For best results, soak overnight.
- Rinse and Wash:
- After soaking, rinse the clothes thoroughly with clean water to remove the whitening solution.
- Wash the clothes in your washing machine using your regular cycle. Use a laundry detergent designed for whites and, if possible, add a whitening booster or oxygen bleach for extra brightening.
- Drying:
- For best results, dry the clothes in the sun. The UV rays from the sun naturally bleach and disinfect fabrics, enhancing the whitening effect. However, avoid overexposure, as too much sunlight can cause yellowing.
